Paper skin
'Paper/Skin', Acrylic and tissue paper collage on paper My main concern for the piece was to challenge the idea of a separation of inside and outside body as well as the fragility of the interior self that struggles to externalise, through the front/back (recto-verso) device of the paper. I have used a grid composition that is similar to a cage containing body fragments. The interiority is conceptually represented by painting behind the surface of the tissue paper images of fragments of my own body. While the outer self/appearance is represented by drawing directly on the “correct” side of the paper. Details Skin textures and surfaces Using fingerprints to leave a trace and convey a sense of touch I developed on the external representation of the self by trying to achieve different surfaces that look like skin.
